wrong way?

Although the sign says “wrong way” Porky had his own ideas-he was following his instincts.  He knew where he wanted to go and didn’t listen to anyone else.  Many times we’re “told” what to do, which direction to take – do we follow our instincts or allow someone else to be in charge.  What do you see?

the past

The Pend Oreille Wildlife Refuge is where this old building stands.  I wonder about it’s builders and those who used this to support their families.  The hard work, long hours, and the tenacity needed to survive – much like today for many people.  They do what they need to do – and just keep going forward, and as long as there is hope.  What do you see?

The poppy has one of the coolest centers – I love the mink color.

Speedy

IMG_4294 Ladybug on Monkshood

This little ladybug was moving quickly – I barely got a shot of him before he went deep into the flower and wouldn’t come out!  I was really surprised at his speed – the unexpected!

Mom

For several days I’ve been remembering what an amazing woman my mom was.  She was strong, loving, generous, loyal, and committed to her family and those in her community.  I am most in awe in how she never spoke ill of people – she was non-judgmental and and always willing to forgive.  There are so many wonderful memories and stories about her:  she loved watching Lawrence Welk, Alfred Hitchcock movies, and Elvis Presley; she enjoyed making the kid’s favorite dishes (potato soup for Joe); she loved her flowers-especially roses, irises, peonies, and even some flowering ground cover that turned out to be weeds; and she loved sitting at the kitchen table having conversations with family/friends while enjoying a good cup of coffee.  My hero!

so much more

At first I just saw an old fence post.  The texture, color, patterns . . .the lichen, barb wire and such a cool hole in the post make it so much more.  To really see just takes time and focus.

Thank you, God, for the return of the 33 Chile miners!

great memories

Coeur d’Alene River, Kingston Idaho.    I first visited with my best friend, K, back in 2006 – and it became one of my favorite places.  Beautiful scenery, much laughter, sunny days, and a great dive for lunch – life doesn’t get much better than that!

silvery water

Even though it was  a very windy day, I enjoyed being in nature and seeing it a bit differently.  It took more effort and focus, but well worth it.

romantic

I never ever tire of flowers!  The softness, color, texture!  I didn’t make note of it’s name, but I think it’s maybe a begonia or similar.  The Divine Light has it be the most beautiful!

light

I really like the light here – and how the sun reflects on the squirrel and the tree.  It was such a beautiful day and I’m so glad I got to share part of it with this sweet little critter.
